'Begin with the end in mind' is the timeless first habit by Dr Stephen Covey.
Pilots know exactly the destination they are heading for. They also take into account the traffic, weather conditions, passenger and fuel load and a number of other factors prior to take off.
The flight may include diversions due to unexpected weather conditions, however, pilots make corrections to direction and airspeed to arrive at the destination safely and on time.
The company board must assume a cockpit position and lead with a firm view of the desired destination. It is management's (not the board's) task to attend to cabin duties and ensure mechanical performance.
Unexpected circumstances will arise and the board needs to make tough calls to get back on track.
